Biella

September 15, 2019

The second exhibition of La Donna Effimera took place within Mani@fattura, an exhibition curated by CNA Impresa Donna as part of the events celebrating the 50th anniversary of CNA Biella. The event aims to celebrate artisanal skills, with a special focus on the expertise embodied by women workers. The mannequins accompany the viewer among the colorful stalls while protecting the working women. They gather the values upheld by female artisans and convey them to passersby, elevated within the framework of art.

Basilica of San Sebastiano

The church of San Sebastiano was built starting from the year 1500 on the commission of Sebastiano Ferrero, a member of the Biella nobility, to house the Lateran canons. Featuring frescoes by representatives of the local Renaissance, the church is accompanied by a spacious and bright cloister intended for the meditation and prayer of the clerics. After various vicissitudes, it is now home to the Museum of the Territory and has served as a backdrop for the characters of La Donna Effimera. With its atmosphere of silence and contemplation, the cloister of San Sebastiano has managed to impart a shade of profound spirituality to the works of art, to be preserved as an added value for future revelations.
